Theatre in Education - Kayleigh.... I'm going out!!!

Kayliegh is just on the brink of leaving primary school. Life is just beginning to open up for her but she seems to be stuck in a cycle of worry and responsibility. Alcohol is playing a big role in her life. Should she tell or should she keep secrets, especially when it concerns the family.

This 45 minute play has been written specifically to take a look at alcohol abuse within a family, but seen through the eyes of a , imaginative, angry, hopeful thirteen year old girl called Kayleigh.

Kayleigh is always 'goin out', out to escape the reality of home, out to have fun and be with her friends, out to go to the youth club and out to experience life up in the field. The challenges that face her growing up seem daunting. She is resilient and loyal but can she negotiate her way out from under the cloud of worry that hangs over her on a daily basis.

This play explores all of the issues mentioned but with a workshop to follow it, it will also attempt to give alternative coping mechanisms and possible solutions to Kayleigh's worries and fears.

This play will entertain, provoke and educate and may be used as part of an intervention method when dealing with this type of crisis.
